Thank you to all those who have already sponsored us at Skin. We are on the way to reaching our target of raising £2,022 for Together for Short Lives:

Our endeavours, however, are small in comparison with children’s nurse, Francesca Lennon, who works at Helen House Children’s Hospice. Her goal is to raise £500,000 by cycling 3,200 miles to coincide with Children’s Hospice Week which starts on 20th June.

Sourcing our pre 1987 bikes has been interesting to say the least. We managed to source one on eBay that has some yellow markings which we hope would make Ian feel at home and encourage him to get out on the road. Unfortunately this has not worked so far!

We were sent in the direction of Golden Age Cycles to source the other bike and we can highly recommend them. Brian has bikes of all shapes, sizes and ages and his knowledge will keep you occupied for hours.

We spent an hour or so looking through and, more importantly, sitting on his plethora of Eroica options. Having deliberated for what seemed like hours, we decided an early 70s Peugeot road bike.

With the supposed warmer weather finally arriving, we have started to put the miles in. Our stats for April on various bicycles was as follows:

Justin – 10 hours – 112.3 miles – 5,383 feet of climbing

Ian – 0 hours – 0 miles – 0 feet of climbing

Our training will continue and we will keep post another update soon.
